Baptism
Baptism is the sacrament through which we are initiated into the Body of Christ and welcomed into the life of the Church.
- For adults: Baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ.
- For infants and children: Parents and godparents promise to raise them in the way of Christ.
- For everyone: Parishioners also have the opportunity to renew their own baptismal vows during the service.
Baptism is open to all, regardless of age or background.
If you are interested in baptism—for yourself or your child—the first step is to speak with a member of our clergy.
If you were baptized in another Christian tradition, or as a child in an Episcopal church, you are invited to Confirmation at St. Augustine as a way to affirm and renew your faith journey.
All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Communion at St. Augustine of Canterbury.
Confirmation
Confirmation is the next step in faith after baptism. For many, this happens around age 12 or older, when you’re ready to claim your baptismal promises for yourself.
When a Bishop lays hands on you during confirmation, we believe the Holy Spirit strengthens you in a new way for a life of faith and service.
Confirmed members share the joy and responsibility of being full members of the parish.
In recent years, about 25 people have taken this step each year, a joyful sign of St. Augustine’s growing and vibrant faith community!
If you are interested in confirmation, please contact our Member Engagement Coordinator.
